What’s on my mind this week.

August 14th, 2008 by Oktane

What a while it has been. This week, well today specifically, I’m headed to an interview in less than hour and then I’ve got our first performance since March to look forward to. Yet, this is what sits heavy in my mind.

As time goes on, we’re constantly reminded of the upcoming election. McCain vs. Obama, what’s going on in Iraq, the oil crisis… you get the picture. However, as is my style, I think of the effects of the election on society.

Let’s first focus on the Democratic Party’s primaries.

As a whole, would you think that the United States is more racist or more sexist?

Though something not necessarily comparable, this question has plagued me for quite sometime. Does it affect me more being white or female?

This question was, in fact, answered by the party’s decision to put up Barack Obama as the presidential candidate. Though straying from the tradition of nominating a white male, females will not run the country for (most likely) another 12 years.

But really, is it that surprising?

Slaves were granted freedom, the right to own property and the right to vote before women.

Think about it.

But what we really need to ask, is does it matter? Just so long as we see ourselves progressing as a society beyond issues of sex and race.

I see it as the fact that it’s NOT going to happen.

Call me a sinner

My new favorite rockabilly shop is West Side Sinners, 8799 W. Colfax Ave., Lakewood.

The store is small, but doesn’t waste any space. Everything in there is perfect for your next photo shoot, car show or date with Frank Sinatra.

And they carry the ever-elusive authentic-cut pin-up bathing suit. I’d been searching for a suit like this for years, literally. I called every store in the state. I didn’t want to order one off the Internet because, hi, this is one thing I’d like to try on first.
Finally, I scored. The suit I found at West Side sinners is a halter neck, red with white polka-dots — even with the boy-cut legs. Tee hee.  West Side Sinners also carries the suit in blue dot and solid black.
I don’t know why we girls subject ourselves to cliche’ bikinis that totally fall off in the wave pool, when you can wear something this comfortable. And cute.

Tip: Don’t miss West Side Sinners’ sale rack. I found a gorgeous purple and black Bettie Page dress for the price of a burrito and large margarita at La Loma’s (my favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver. Get used to hearing about it; I talk about it daily). Of course, I wore it that night on my date to La Loma’s, so it’s not like I saved any money. But let me tell you, sexy dress plus best marg in the state equals a perfect night for the perfect price.

Hollywood Called. And it’s beautiful.

August 14th, 2008 by Lucy Luck

I experienced one of the most wonderful moments of my life last night in the Hollywood Calling studio.
I brought two of my friends to do a fun girl’s night out photo shoot, a gift for our friend Jess’s 30th birthday. But it really felt like a gift to me.
I sat there — with my hair ratted up into a ridiculously amazing, looming ball of 3-foot-tall “Marie Antoinette”-esque pink curls — and I watched as Eva put fake lashes on Jess for the first time, and added temporary bright blue streaks to my best friend Brittany’s platinum hair. My friends looked like they were glowing, like they had never felt so beautiful in their lives.
Then came the corset. Brittany has been a tomboy all her life. In fact, she jokes that she didn’t even know she had boobs until she was in college because she always wore sports bras. Even today, she is a T-shirt and jeans kind of gal. She can out-ball any guy on the court. Corsets were foreign territory for her — so much so that she even said the word wrong, putting a few unnecessary syllables and accents in the word, as it if was foreign and highly complicated.
I stood behind her, cinching her in, and she joked that we’d reached a new level of our friendship. I helped her straighten the “cor’setteee’ee’eytte” and fluff her black tutu. Then I led her to the full-length mirror.
She stood there for a moment, obviously speechless.
Then she said: “I’m a girl.”
It was such a small and silly proclamation that it made us both laugh. But I will never forget that moment, when my best friend saw herself in a new light and discovered the magnitude of her femininity.
There is strength in the feminine. There is something very powerful and intense about feeling connected to your womanhood. I’ve always said that a twirl in a skirt can transform any day — and any woman — into something magical.
When Brittany twirled for the first time in her tutu, I confess, I almost cried.
But then again, it might have just been the wine.

Bam Bam Betty Bam Bam & OktaneDaisyP-DubFoxanne

What’s new @ ChiksontheHill?

Well, just a few things for starters. We’ve got hot new Chiks and Chiks with hot new photo sets. First there’s Bam Bam Betty who only came to see us because she got a new cowgirl hat so we let her ride the grill of our 40s Hercules tractor. Woohoo and Yeehaw…or whatever.

You’ve seen Oktane a couple times here and there but you haven’t seen her skoolin’ a new girl yet have you? You see, ever since we gave Oktane a riding crop in Viva, she’s been all about “trainin” the new girls…and that applies to Bam Bam too.

Then see her take on Calliope with a riding crop and some throwing knives as she’s strapped to a big wooden round thing.

Fresh and smelling like a blonde-haired blue-eyed spring day, we bring you Daisy…all the way down to her little pink frilly knickers.

At the welding shop, hot latina P-Dub takes a lil spin on Bucky the forklift.

Foxanne loses her top and bra in the dark…

Madison goes down to nothing but her tight ass, perfect tits and a tiny little black g-string that…match her shoes. Yes…see her on Chuck’s bike. It’s hot.

We’ve got car shows…lots of car shows. New to Kustoms is VLV 11, Bullets & Baseballs Car Show, Streamline Crush Rushin’ Car Show, No Ones MIA Custom Car & Motorcycle Show and the Shifters Bar & Grill Ca Show. Don’t miss the complete coverage photo sets and video.

Finally, new additions to our kustom Builder section include Bo Huff, Tony Smith, Raul & Doc Pete, Chuck’s hot new bike (with Madision’s amazing ass all over it) with the paint by Evil Ace Customs and the pinstriping by Mike Learn.

In the News & Events, check out the new Bo Huff interview and Cannonball Baker tribute story.

It won’t be long before we launch the the other nine sites that focus on specific Chiks…and yes, if you’re a member you already have instant access.

See ya’ll next time…
